1What cookies are
A cookie is a small file a website keeps in your browser so it can recognise it next time. Browser storage does the same job for settings that never need to reach the server. This policy covers both, on the Fern website and in the Fern app.
2The ones Fern uses
Only the ones listed above. Each one either keeps Fern working and your account secure, or remembers a setting you chose. None is for advertising, none follows you to other sites, and our usage counts set no cookie at all.
Since they’re needed to sign in and to protect your account, we don’t ask before setting them, which is what the law allows for cookies like these.
3Other companies
The price charts are TradingView’s, drawn in a frame from its own site, and it may set its own cookies there under its own policy. Pictures and video load from Logo.dev, CoinGecko, Unsplash and Cloudflare, which see your IP address like any site you load a picture from, but set no cookies for us.
4Your choices
- Usage counts: off in Settings → Preferences.
- Clearing or blocking cookies in your browser’s settings works, but Fern can’t keep you signed in without its sign-in cookie, and the next sign-in looks like a new device, so we’ll email you about it.
- Do Not Track and Global Privacy Control: Fern doesn’t track you across sites, so there’s nothing for them to switch off, and we honour them anyway.
5Changes
When we add or remove a cookie, this page changes first, and so does the date at the top.
